Today we made medals. Olympic medals.
Here’s what we started with:
- 3 Mason jar lids
Other things you’ll need
- 3 Post-it Notes
- Gold, Silver and Bronze Paint
- Standard Screwdriver
- Red, White and Blue Ribbon
This is what we did:
I made the numbers using dots on a post-it note making sure it is centered on the jar lid.
Then the kids pounded gently (can I use those 2 words together??) through each dot. Notice that my kids are doing this on the table. They did fine, BUT I would encourage you to do this on a garage floor or sidewalk as I didn’t do so well. Let’s just say that there is a minor hole in the table that wasn’t there before today…whoops. It was when I was trying to make the hole for the ribbon. Not good.
Then they painted the medals the appropriate colors. We had to do 2 coats of paint. (Notice how much Sawyer is enjoying this!!)
I used a screwdriver to make the ribbon hole. (On cement after I learned my lesson!)
Here they are! Now we just need some events to use them for:).
Here’s the Olympic craft we did last week using glue and salt.
Blessings to you,
