A Midwest Springtime Activity

by shara.anderson on April 11, 2013

What do you do when you are technically a month into spring and yet you are seeing snow come down with a predicted 6-12 inches on the way???  The obvious answer is make a snowman.  Being it is April though, we’ve been down that road a few times already this winter.  So, we made sundresses for the girls’ dolls instead.  Seems logical, doesn’t it?

We went to the Liberty Jane Website and downloaded the free American Girl Doll dress pattern there.  We were able to make up two of these dresses in an afternoon, and I’m no expert seamstress.

I took the girls to pick out material for their dresses.  I left it COMPLETELY up to them (except for material that would be hard to work with).  Believe me, it was hard not to throw in my 2 cents.  This is what Ella chose.

This is what Addie chose.  Their choices couldn’t show their personalities better.  Ella is all things pretty, elegant, soft and gentle.  Addie is boisterous, loud and bold.  I love it!
