Death and Hope

by shara.anderson on May 10, 2013

Who knows if this post will ever get published.  My mind has been a bit of a fog and getting thoughts on paper (or computer) has not been happening for me.

Last Saturday, we lost a dear friend!  She was 43 and a mother of 3 and an influence to many many people.  I cannot express my hurt for her family.  I cannot explain why she is not here.  I do know, though, that Pam got the better end of this deal.  She is in the presence of my Savior while we mourn her death.

Death isn’t natural.  It is not how God intended things to be.  That’s what sin does.  It causes pain, hurt and unnatural things to happen.  Our world is full of the consequences of sin.  Death, wounds, sickness, weeds, broken relationships, and emotional turmoil are all a result of sin that started in The Garden.  This was not God’s original plan.

Yet, sin does NOT have the last word!  Sin and death were defeated!  My Savior came and one day I will not endure the hardships of this world any longer!!  This is for a brief moment, although it doesn’t feel brief while we endure it.

Time is short.  Pam was diagnosed January 17th, 2013 and died May 4th, 2013.  She knew Jesus.  She didn’t just know OF Him.  She knew Him.  She knew her need for a Savior.  She had no means to save herself.  Neither do I.  Neither do you.  It doesn’t matter how much you go to church or volunteer your time or give to the poor.  That doesn’t get you one step closer to a perfect God.  Sin has separated us from Him.  My loving Heavenly Father knew we couldn’t bridge the gap between us and Him.  So, He MADE a way.  I can’t earn salvation in any way, but I can reject it.  Jesus Christ was sent to save.  He was tortured, bled and died for me and you.  Have you put your faith in Him for your salvation?  We aren’t promised tomorrow.

We are grieving the loss of Pam, but she is better off where she is.  Is that the truth for you?  If you have questions, ask them.  If you have doubts, explore them.  Do not put this on the back burner.  Don’t wait.  This isn’t about religion, baptism or confirmation.  It is about a relationship with the living God.  If you need a place to start, open your heart and ask God to reveal Himself to you.  Then find a Bible and read the book of John.  There is nothing else that you have to do today that could be any more important than getting right with God!

Pam, we love you and you will be very missed, but we celebrate your life in Jesus Christ today!

This is Pam with my good friend’s baby.  She LOVED holding little ones.

Blessings to you,

**If you have been following Pam’s story you know that God gave her more time than the doctors thought she would have.  Here is her story about her scan that was clear of cancer after her diagnoses.  We don’t and probably won’t understand this side of heaven why she isn’t here, but we are blessed that we had extra time with her after her initial diagnoses.  She is completely healed now!!
