Strawberry Picking!

by shara.anderson on June 16, 2012

YUM!!!  Fresh strawberries are the best!!

Every year (our 3rd annual) our family and our friends head out to the local berry patch to pick fresh strawberries!  This year my sister and some of her kiddos came with us too.  My dear niece watched Sawyer and Addie while we picked.

Cade enjoyed lots of berries (notice the empty basket:)).

Actually, Cade and Ella were VERY helpful picking!

Our friend, Gideon, loved to count and announce each berry he picked:).

Our friend, Beckett, mischievously hiding his box.

My nephew, Payton, intent on his task.

Ella, with her cousin, Kalli.

So, what did we do with 3 boxes of strawberries?  I’m so glad you asked.

Strawberry Freezer Jam

We made 3 batches of freezer jam.  I use the Certo packets and use the recipe in the box.  (It’s not original, but when I tried to be original a couple of years ago we had a bunch of strawberry syrup instead of jam…this is EASY).

Freezing Strawberries

Then we froze a bunch of strawberries for smoothies later on.  Just cut off the stems, place them on a cookie sheet so they aren’t touching each other and put them in the freezer.  When they are frozen move them into a large Ziploc bag.

Oh, and we made a couple of strawberry pies; one for friends and one for us, but they are gone.  I didn’t take pictures fast enough.

What are your favorite strawberry recipes??

Blessings to your family,
