I have to say that things have gotten a little negative around here. Honestly, it has been as much of a habit for me as it has been for the kids lately. Today, as I was out for my walk/run/prayer time I was thinking back to a book that I read it quite a while ago, and I had an idea.
You’ve probably heard of the book, 1000 Gifts: A Dare to Live Fully Right Where You Are, by Ann Voskamp. If you haven’t read it, I recommend it. You can find it here. In the book there is a challenge to list 1,000 things that you are thankful for. So, today I had the idea to start a new list but this time to include the kids in it.
I put the list on the wall and some markers next to it.
The kids have really enjoyed adding to the list.
It is truly refreshing to be counting what we’re thankful for instead of complaining. It will take us awhile to get to 1,000, but that’s ok. My intention is to 3 hole punch the sheets and put them into a 3 ring binder where we can look through our “Thankful Book” anytime.
Blessings to your family as you count your blessings,
