About

Engagement PictureOur story begins in September 1996.  We met at Century College in White Bear Lake, Minnesota where we were both attending classes.  Perhaps fate, but definitely God’s sovereignty that we would actually talk to each other and fall in love.

In 1997, we both studied at Northwestern College in Roseville, Minnesota and were married in Nazareth Chapel August 1, 1998.  Kirk graduated in 1999 with a Bachelors of Youth Ministries and Shara graduated in 2000 with a Bachelors in Elementary Education.

Kirk took a full time ministry in Edina Minnesota at Colony Park Baptist Church and our first home was the church parsonage next to the church.  We stayed in Edina for 4 years and in that time, Shara took a teaching position in the Minneapolis School District and was the Sunday School Director at Colony Park.

In 2002, Kirk decided that his passion was not full-time youth ministry and he began looking for a new job that would give him new opportunities to learn and experience new skills (without going back to college).  He was hired at Karges-Faulconbridge, Inc. (KFI) in April 2002 and worked in several positions over the next 6+ years.  His resume would soon include: Accounting, Mechanical Design, Information Technology, and Marketing.

In the transition, we moved into an apartment (Shara’s parents basement) for 6 months, but eventually bought a 20 acre farm in Northwestern Wisconsin (December 2002).  Shara’s Sister and Brother-in-law were selling it and after being outbid several times in Minnesota, we decided to give Wisconsin a try.  We love it!

It was such an amazing opportunity for us to:

a. be close to family (Tawny and Randy lived 1 mile away) and

b. to finally own a home.  We were also blessed that Kirk could car pooled with Randy for over 5 years on the 50 mile journey to work.

Shara continued to teach Elementary school, but in Forest Lake, Minnesota.  She was able to connect with some very good schools in Scandia and Forest Lake and continues to stay connected with some special teachers.

We have 3 wonderful and fun loving kids. Cade (Oct. 2004), Ella (Feb. 2006), and Addie (August 2009).  They have been our greatest blessings and we adore them!  Shara decided that she wanted to stay home vs. work and was able to become a nanny for a great family whose kids are close in age to ours.

She is able to take our kids over to watch their kids and they have become close friends in the process.  Our kids absolutely love going to their house and has no clue that it isn’t just a fun play date.

In February 2008, Kirk was given the opportunity to start his own business doing something he loved and was truly passionate about.  He actually started it in 2003, but launched it full time in 2008.  It is a marketing, technology, and business consulting business.  He has clients all over the country and enjoys helping other people’s business’ become successful.

This blog is a fun way to talk about our family and what we love doing together.
